Continuous CRP (Conservation Reserve Program) is designed for specific, high-priority conservation practices (filter strips, riparian buffers, wetland restorations) on the most environmentally sensitive land. Unlike General CRP, the signup is open year round and can be less competetive.

Sign-up Process

Continous signup differs from General signup in its timing and how offers are selected. Producers can submit an application any time. FSA will look at the application and prioritize practices that address the most critical resource concerns. Acceptance is based on environmental benefits instead of a nationwide competetive ranking.

Pros and Cons

  • Can apply any time and is less competetive; but you must have a significant resource concern and a reason to be in the Continuous grouping.
  • Continuous CRP can offer better rates than General CRP
  • Certain practices that reduce sediment or nutrient loading can receive an additional 20% incentive.
  • Continuous CRP has more limited practice options than General CRP
  • Cannot graze Continuous CRP. Producers interested in grazing should look at Grassland CRP.
